EVENTS FOR 2008

The New Hardy Players

In 2005 a group performed Thomas Hardy's Return of the Native, directed by Tim Laycock, to celebrate the hundredth birthday of Norrie Woodhall - Norrie, who as a girl, acted with The Hardy Players and is now the only surviving member. With Norrie's encouragement the group took the name The New Hardy Players. The following year they put on Under the greenwood Tree, adapted and directed by Jennifer Bailey, and in 2007 A Life in Three Strands, a play about the life of Hardy written by Devina Symes and Norrie Woodhall. Norrie has taken part in all three productions as well as compliation performances of Dorset readings, poetry and music put on by the New Hardy Players and friends.

Venues have included Corfe Castle, Dorchester, Ilminster's Warehouse Theatre, Owermoigne, Stafford House and Wareham. 2008 sees their first performance at Abbotsbury.
